Great Canadian’s Casino Woodbine Brings Man a Whopping $3.2M Jackpot

A Toronto-based solutions contractor is now $3.2 million richer after winning a massive progressive jackpot at Casino Woodbine. Loyola shared that Casino Woodbine was a favorite entertainment spot for him and his girlfriend, with her going upstairs to play the slots while he played the tables downstairs.

Man Claims His Late Girlfriend Helped Him Win the Jackpot

Loyola says he felt his girlfriend’s spirit with him when he went to the casino just two weeks after her passing. Although he is a table games player, he decided to play his girlfriend’s favorite slot machine and even played it the way she did, stopping the machine mid-spin to try and get the three ‘Jackpot’ icons to line up. It worked, and Loyola saw ‘Jackpot, Jackpot, Jackpot’ before he started screaming and running around.

The win drew a crowd of onlookers and casino staff who were just as excited as the winner. Loyola shared that a lot of people at the casino knew about his girlfriend’s passing and gave him their condolences and congratulations at the same time. He sai…

Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited facing American de-listing

Asian casino operator Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited could reportedly soon be de-listed from the Nasdaq bourse under rules adopted by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in January.

According to a report from GGRAsia, the Hong Kong-headquartered firm behind a trio of Macau casinos was yesterday reportedly placed on the federal agency’s provisional list of foreign companies that are set to be de-listed. The source explained that the revelation saw the value of individual shares in the operator immediately plummet by more than 5.7% to stand at approximately $6.50.

Federal foundation:

Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited is responsible for Macau’s impressive City of Dreams Macau, Studio City Macau and Altira Macau venues as well as gambling-friendly facilities in Cyprus and the Philippines. However, the company run by billionaire businessman Lawrence Ho Yau Lung is now purportedly facing the real prospect of being de-listed after the United States Securities and Exchange Commission brought in the new regulations for Chinese companies under the domain of the nation’s Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act.

Already-massive Pathfinder- Wrath of the Righteous adds new class, quests, companion-

Owlcat has revealed a trailer and release date for the first installment of its second season of DLC add-ons for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. The Last Sarkorians adds a new class, Shifter, as well as a Shifter companion and his associated questlines.

Shifters are all about, well, shapeshifting, with roots in the prestige class of the same name from Dungeons & Dragons third edition and mechanics that build off the Druid “wild shape” abilities. According to RPG YouTuber Mortismal, Shifter was a bit of a dud in tabletop Pathfinder, but we’re probably going to see some mechanical tweaks for Owlcat’s interpretation—it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve fudged tabletop accuracy in favor of CRPG fun.

The DLC’s new companion is Ulbrig Olesk, one of the titular Last Sarkorians. If you need to brush up on your Golarian Lore, first, shame on you for not keeping up with it, and second, Sarkoris is the land in which Wrath of the Righteous takes place, a barbarian hinterland which was subjected to an abyssal apocalypse 100 years prior to the events of the game. The Sarkorians are rowdyruff warrior types, and sight unseen I’d guess Ulbrig enjoys nat…

‘Correctness comes first. Performance improves next.’ Fedora Asahi Remix project brings Windows PC gaming to Apple silicon Macs

Compared to PCs, gaming on Apple Macs is somewhat of an understated affair, mostly due to the much smaller catalogue of Mac-compatible games. However, one software is aiming to make that a thing of the past by combining a multitude of emulators and application translators into a single operating system called Fedora Ashahi Remix. It’s Linux, Jim, but not quite as you know it.

We first learned of the project via Ars Technica but one of the developers involved, Alyssa Rosenzweig, has been frequently reporting on the work on her blog. The latest entry details how Fedora Ashahi Remix (FAR) lets you fire up Windows-based games, such as Control, Fallout 4, Cyberpunk 2077, and Witcher 3, on any Apple Mac using the M1 chip.

All one has to do is install the Linux distro, enter dnf upgrade –refresh && reboot in the command prompt to update drivers, followed by dnf install steam and you should be good to go.

What the developers had to do, though, was entirely more complex and challenging. Apple M1 chips are fundamental Arm-based in terms of architecture, so FAR uses FEX-Emu to run x86 binaries (i.e. compiled code) on Arm. It also uses Wine to …

All the big laptop makers are embracing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X, here are all the ‘PC reborn’ models available for pre-order now-

The launch of Copilot+ AI PCs has been made possible due to the performance on offer from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X-series processor family. Focusing on the NPU and AI performance does Qualcomm a disservice, though. Admittedly, we’ll have to get devices in hand to truly judge their level of competitiveness, but the early signs look good, and Intel and AMD should be wary of their new PC competitor.

Performance isn’t everything, and though the class leading NPU and AI performance at up to 45 TOPS is being shouted about, the long battery life of the platform is a major contributing factor leading to all the major laptop makers boarding the Snapdragon X-series train. Qualcomm is touting the new non-x86 chips as “The PC reborn” and that is indeed what it’s calling its Computex keynote on June 2, too.

According to Gartner, the top 6 laptop manufacturers in the world are Lenovo, HP, Dell, Apple, Asus, and Acer, in that order. We can exclude Apple, obviously, but it’s somewhat surprising to me that the other five are all planning laptops with either Snapdragon X Elite or Snapdragon X Plus processors.

That says there’s a lot they like about the platform to jump in to the …
